Light Travels (A.K.A. Deb's Gift)
This is a close crop of a macro image of afternoon sunlight streaming through a round faceted crystal hanging in the window of our breakfast nook on a snowy day. The blue and magenta color of the triangle are caused by the separation of the light rays as they pass through the crystal.
A Morning Walk In The Fog
This old broken down mill with the railroad tracks running through is on Hoods Mill Road, along the south branch of the Patapsco River, which runs along the Howard County/Carroll County line. I didn't live far from here at the time,
and I used to love to walk down here with my camera in hand. In the morning fog, the scene was transformed from drab to magical.

I'm constantly surprised by how beautiful common sights can be when they are isolated and examined on their own. The delicate, almost lace-like structure of this decomposing leaf is what initially caught my eye. To really emphasize that feature, I used Photoshop to increase the contrast, over-sharpen, remove all color and then apply a sepia tone. The final effect makes me think of something that's been dipped in gold, an effect that is especially enhanced when this is printed on metallic paper.
